Google Trends

Google Trends is an integrated data source (a Module) in UserSearch. It reports how often a term is searched on Google over time and which topics are currently trending, letting you gauge public interest in a product, brand, term or event rather than look up a person or account. In UserSearch, Google Trends is one of the data sources behind the Product search type.

Official site: trends.google.com

Google Trends is Google’s public interest-over-time index. Instead of returning documents or records about a specific individual, it measures relative search volume for a query — showing whether interest in a term is rising or falling and what people are searching for right now. That makes it the reference source when your starting point is a keyword, product name or brand, and you want a sense of attention and momentum around it.

When you run a Product search through this Module, Google Trends supplies interest- and topic-level signals such as:

  • Search-interest over time — the relative popularity of a term across a period
  • Trending topics — subjects currently seeing a surge in search activity
  • Related queries and topics associated with your term
  • Regional interest — where a term is being searched most

Google Trends powers the Product search type. Within Product it backs the trend-oriented Modules — surfacing search-interest history and current trending topics — alongside the other Google-branded and app-store Modules that make up that search type.
