What Picarta is

Picarta is an AI photo-geolocation service. You give it an image and it infers the location where the photo was captured, inspecting visual cues in the scene — landscape, architecture, signage, vegetation and other environmental features — rather than relying on embedded EXIF GPS metadata. That makes it the reference source when your starting point is a photograph and the question you need answered is “where was this taken?”.

What it returns

When you run a Picture search through Picarta, it supplies a location prediction for the submitted image, typically including:

• Predicted location — the most likely place the photo was taken
• Coordinates — an estimated latitude/longitude for that prediction
• Confidence — a score indicating how certain the model is
• Candidate locations — alternative predictions ranked by likelihood

Which UserSearch search types use it

Picarta powers the Picture search type, specifically its image-geolocation capability. Within the Picture search type it runs as its own Module, so you select it when your goal is to place a photograph geographically rather than to reverse-search or match a face.

How to access Picarta in UserSearch

1. Select the Picture search type.
2. Choose the Picarta Module.
3. Upload the photograph you want to geolocate.
4. Confirm the Cost per search shown on screen before you run.
5. Select Search Now.
6. Review the returned prediction. Any result is marked Found, and the Data Source column shows Picarta.
